Cast of Chicago:

Here is the website I showed you tonight in rehearsal that lists some act-able verbs:
http://texasartsproject.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/TacticList21.pdf

Here is another site:
http://texasartsproject.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/03/TacticList21.pdf

You can google and find several other sites, as well.

Please look over this:
http://wgadvancedtheaterproductions.blogspot.com/p/lecture-subtext-whats-really-being-said.html

* This site is a nice review of the Super Objective ( Character's overall goal), Objective ( what is your objective in each of your scenes), Beats, and Active Verbs ( Tactics)... I know you all already know all of this, but it is always helpful to refresh your memory right before working on your scripts!

*** Please make sure you do all of this table work this week : )  ** Yes, I want those scripts marked up!! : )

Remember:  Line Memorization Deadline is Wednesday, April 15.  Last day to call line is Wednesday, April 22.

Thank you for your hard work!

Cast Posting - To The Chicago Abyss

To all those who auditioned –

Thank you all very much for making this a VERY difficult job for me. I have no doubt in my mind that each and every one of you could play any and all of the parts that you were called back for.  For the first time in my theatrical life, I finally fully understand what directors mean when they say that some people really do just fit the characters  (or the essence of said character), and while the rest of those auditioning may be just as talented they just don't fully "fit" for the specific character being cast.   Thank you, thank you, thank you to each and every one of you for your time and commitment to this process! I am very impressed, and have no doubt that you all are talented enough to succeed in this craft ( if you so choose!)

-Chelsie Thomas, Director

Scripts and schedules will be available from Me on Monday, March 30 during the day.  You’ll get further information at that point.

Should you have any questions about your audition, please feel free to email the Chelsie next week.  Everyone needs time to put things into perspective after a casting list is posted, so we ask that you take some time before contacting the directors…though they’re happy to discuss what they saw with you.

Thanks, and congratulations to you all for a fine audition!

From Chelsie

I am not looking for caricatures. I am looking for honest realism. So, for old man/woman, I do not want an old person voice or physicality.  However, I do still want bold choices that differentiate from your teenage selves.  I want to believe you are wise and exhausted. But, I don't want you to comment on it.

Some thing to think about as you prepare your work!

Ensemble List: Future Tense – Coming Soon!

townspeople – To The Chicago Abyss, etc. These roles will be cast from those who have auditioned for any of the three shows and will be posted along with the cast of To The Chicago Abyss

Stage Management

Stage management positions for The Veldt and Kaleidoscope will be determined at this weekend’s production meeting and posted to the blog.  Any actors who’ve signed up for a stage management position should let me know if they’re auditioning for To The Chicago Abyss and not be considered for management at this time.

To Those Who Auditioned -

Thank you each and every one of you who took the time to spend with us over the earlier three days. The auditioning process is at once one of the most exciting and the most heartbreaking experiences a director can go through, from the highs represented by the talent and possibility one sees before them, to the lows of knowing there are only so many roles to distribute among such quality performers. This cast list is a balancing of several factors including performance energy, the ability to interpret the language, ensemble chemistry, work ethic, scheduling conflicts, experience, skill development, and movement ability. We could have assembled any number of completely different casts, and all would have produced wonderful shows. This particular grouping is the result of the factors listed above at this time and in this place. Thank you everyone for giving us such outstanding choices!

Scripts and schedules will be available from Miller on Monday during the day. You’ll get further information at that point.

Should you have any questions about your audition, please feel free to email the directors next week. Everyone needs time to put things into perspective after a casting list is posted, so we ask that you take some time before contacting the directors…though they’re happy to discuss what they saw with you.

Thanks, and congratulations to you all for a fine audition!

-J. Miller, Artistic Director
